Field trip packing

Please apply sunscreen to your child before school on Friday in preparation for our field trip to the Special Olympics. Make sure to include a lunch as well.  We have talked as a group about our plans. A couple of students have volunteered to bring frisbees. One student is bringing a football. A few students have asked to bring softballs and gloves. I have asked these students to get permission from parents first. They will have their backpacks and keep track of their own belongings. Please send a rain jacket or small umbrella if the weather forecast calls for it (they have been back and forth with the forecast for Friday so far.) We will leave the school promptly at 9:00 and return before 2:00 for dismissal. We will be at Daylis Stadium or in the playground/field area of Pioneer Park if you should need to find us. We are all very excited! What a perfect way to spend a Friday!

Kid Blog

Students,

Let's try something new and different for fourth quarter! You are going to have your very own blog! Go to the following link to get started: http://kidblog.org/MrsKanesThirdGrade

Click on your name. Your password for your blog is your first name and your student number like this: mrskane23

Type about anything you want to get started! Remember to be a good digital citizen. Anything that goes out on the internet lives on FOREVER so type words that are positive and that you can be proud of. We will use this tool for our last inquiry project, but for now let's just have fun and get used to it by typing about anything that interests you.

Smarter Balance Testing

We will be completing Smarter Balance testing on the mornings of April 14-17. This is a new test connected to the Common Core State Standards. We are taking it in place of MontCAS testing. If you would like to see an example of the test, or allow your child to practice if they are a person who has test anxiety, I have shared the link to the practice test on the sidebar of this blog. Make sure your child comes each of those days on time, well-rested, fed, and ready-to-go! We will not do spelling during this week. Thank you for your support!
